                                                                                                                           Orlando. J. González-Bello

Work Experience

A Scientist with many years of experience performing several roles in different R&D Organizations such as the Academy, the Oil & Gas Industry, and an RTO private. For all of them, he performed multiple technical and managerial tasks to drive several R&D projects and lines forward in the renewable energy field (mainly H2 and Bioenergy).

His R&D activities focus on the design and development of advanced reactors [(e.g., Microreactors and Catalytic Membrane Reactors (CMRs)] via an interdisciplinary approach between Heterogeneous Catalysis (speeding up processes by developing or improving catalysts), Coating Technologies (depositing thin catalyst layers onto the surface of differently structured materials such as metal and ceramic monoliths, foams, and structured packages), Material Science (selecting and preparing/synthesizing suitable materials with enhanced properties for the construction of new reactors, membranes, electrodes, Smart materials, starting and row materials, energy materials, etc.); Process Intensification (by the implementation of 3D-printing and micromachining technologies for the construction of advanced reaction systems); and finally, Analytical Chemistry [Hands-on experience in relevant analytical techniques, such as AAS, ICP, FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, DSC, TPR/TPO/TPD, etc. and expertise in developing and validating GC and HPLC analytical methods for the compositional analysis of reactants, reaction products, and reaction mixtures derived from the chemical processes in which he is involved, and ICP-OES and AAS analytical methods for the metal loading analysis (active phases) in catalyst materials]

Currently, he performs the role of R&D Project Consultant. He provides advisory services to researchers and scientific Organizations interested in getting grants from the EU Research Funding Framework Programme (FP7, H2020, Horizon Europe, etc.), provides scientific support to R&D project coordinators and researchers in detailed analytical investigation studies through suitable analytical techniques to identify, characterize, and quantify chemical compounds, pollutants, poisons or surface degradations arising as a result of natural or induced deposition processes onto metal or ceramic surfaces of chemical reactors or catalysts used in chemical processes of industrial interest.
